Threats from Belco stacking up
Created: Oct 28, 2020 08:00 AM
Dear Sir,
I know there’s already pressure on Belco concerning the new bellowing smoke stack. I would just like to add to it.
We live within a five-mile radius of Belco and can now smell the fumes from the new stack daily. If I had a child attending Berkeley, Saltus or Mount Saint Agnes, I would be furious.
This is robbing us and our children, who are way more vulnerable to the poisonous effects, of clean air. Asthma rates are already way too high on this island.
While the Government is to be commended for keeping us healthy thus far in this Covid era, can we not ask it to help keep us healthy concerning Belco?
The power utility company seems to be missing a conscience and therefore may need some help growing one.
