THE international insurance companies are not the only ones who are unhappy about what is happening in Bermuda these days.

A significant number of individuals and families are unhappy, unsettled and even frightened by the dangerous legislation and disruptive statements, not to mention the threats, coming from some leaders of the Progressive Labour Party.

There are Bermudians leaving Bermuda because they no longer want to live with uncertainty and fear. There are Bermudians moving their assets overseas because they foresee a collapse of the economy. If international companies leave or cut back, real estate prices will fall and condos will be empty. There are Bermudians staying but are looking for overseas homes so that they have somewhere to go if they become insecure in Bermuda. It will probably be said that all this applies only to wealthy white Bermudians. That is not true. Bermuda's economy has provided a wide array of Bermudians with the means to address these concerns. This is not the way people should have to live. We have a right to enjoy our home.
