Shutters building for sale
unsuccessful Shutters Restaurant, is up for sale for $4.5 million.
Owner Gosling Brothers has appointed real estate agents Gibbons and White as the exclusive agent.
"The point of having the building house a restaurant was to provide an outlet for Gosling's liquor,'' said Gosling Brothers president Ms Nancy Gosling.
"When that didn't work out, we decided to sell the building, because Gosling's role is not to be involved in the property business, looking around for tenants,'' she said.
Gosling's said the building was sited in good location, suitable for use as an office building.
"There is much office space available now, but it is unusual to find a brand new building, which would save a business the time and trouble of bothering with construction,'' said Ms Gosling.
Gosling Brothers funded the rebuilding of the Green Shutters Building, which was completed in August 1992.
The company will consider offering a long-term lease.
The 12,000 square footage of the building extends across nine staggered floors, and, includes a penthouse office with harbour views.
Interior features include a handcrafted mahogany elevator in the central atrium, dumbwaiters, mahogany railings, kitchen facilities, internal stairways and fire stairs.
