The 37th edition of the Fairmont to Fairmont Race will include a new walking category, the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club announced yesterday.

The race is set to take place on January 5, with the 7.2-mile race starting at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and ending at The Fairmont Southampton.

The itinerary will again consist of a three-member team relay and a junior three-kilometre race.

Husband and wife Chris and Ashley Estwanik won the adult male and female categories respectively last year, while the junior winners were Iziah Tucker and Jessica Marshall (8-10), Alex Pilgrim and Lynsey Parmer (11-12), and Jahmari Sutton and Amanda Foy (13-15).

The main draw prize for next year’s competition is a three-night stay at The Fairmont Battery Wharf in Boston, including airfare for two on JetBlue.

There are prizes for the top male and female finishers of the junior race in each of the three age groups, as well relay race prizes for the top finishers in the male, female and mixed categories.
