Charles Symons and Kevin Tucker combined to take six wickets while veteran player-coach Andre Manders scored 45 and Gerald Simons Jr. 42 to lift First Division leaders PHC to a 86-run victory over Somerset Bridge at White Hill yesterday.

PHC's decision to bat after winning the toss worked in their favour as they reached a respectable score thanks to Manders and Simons. Also among the runs were Ed Williams with 29, Gordon Anglin 15 and Mathew Lee 15.

There was some concern in the PHC camp when two wickets fell for 38, but stability came when Simons and Manders added 59 for the third wicket.

Brian Gibbons led the Bridge bowling with three for 18 off six overs while Denzil Dill took two for 18 off 5.3 overs. Skipper Mark Bean snatched two for 27 off six overs.

Bridge lost their first three batsmen for ducks as the first 16 runs scored all came from wides. They slumped further to 24 for four and then 51 for five before Denzil Dill (22) and Bean (26) added 44 for the sixth wicket. But once Dill was bowled by Charles Symons with the score on 95 the writing was on the wall.

Symons finished with three for 23 off 4.4 overs while Tucker had three for 32 off six overs.
