Bermuda boxer Perozzi loses in Germany
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24: Bermuda boxer Teresa Perozzi was defeated yesterday in her middleweight title fight against Christina Hammer in Germany.
Perozzi almost pulled out of the bout at the last-minute because of a rib injury and had to have a pain-numbing injection to get her through the fight.
She lost on a 97-93 points decision to Hammer.
Perozzi told The Royal Gazette: “Many Germans came up to me a said they felt it was a draw. I think that would be a fare assessment but I was definitely not operating close to 100 percent.
“(My) ribs and back muscles were a mess. I had the injection which got me through but I wasn’t myself. (I was) not the person I was a week ago in training.”
