QuoVadis hails Apple deal

QuoVadis can now compete on a more level playing field with the large international companies in their industry thanks to a new deal with Apple Computers according to vice president of Business Development Stephen Davidson.

Mac users around the world can now send secure information with digital certificates following the addition of QuoVadis root certificates to the Apple Computers Mac OS X 10.2 operating system.

The QuoVadis root certificates are now marked as “trusted” by default, and accessible for all computer applications that rely upon the Macintosh Keychain. This means that Apple users can seamlessly use QuoVadis digital certificates for digital signatures, encryption, and access control.

CEO of QuoVadis Tony Nangel said: “We are delighted that QuoVadis has gained the stature to be included in software from major vendors like Apple. This results from the growth in QuoVadis' international client base, as well as the third party audits performed on our operations.”

Mr. Nangel added: “The presence of a world-class commercial certificate authority like QuoVadis is a major differentiator for Bermuda as an e-business savvy jurisdiction. Companies that operate in Bermuda trade upon their reputation: our customers know digital certificates are a useful tool to explore the efficiencies and to manage the risks of doing business online.”

Mr. Davidson explained that the deal meant that all Apple computers that are shipped will now include software that recognises QuoVadis' certificates. He also said that the local company was working with Microsoft on a similar agreement, but this could take some time. Mr. Davidson said he would like to give credit where credit was due, and said Apple took QuoVadis seriously after Bermuda's Ministry of Telecommunications and e-Commerce initiated regulations for Certified Service Providers (CFP).

Nigel Hickson, e-Commerce consultant to the Bermuda Government added: “This news emphasises QuoVadis' growing recognition internationally as a leader in secure e-business.

The Government recognises that its own use of QuoVadis certificates for Cabinet Minister, allowing them to have secure electronic communications.”

The QuoVadis root is already widely distributed in Bermuda and among QuoVadis' corporate client networks around the world.
