Tee times go online to lure golf tourists
Tourism has launched a new website designed to attract golfers to the Island.
Golfers can now book tee times and find out information about courses, weather and specialist tour operators.
The website follows a report from golf consultant Roddie Carr of the International Marketing Group that was submitted last November which highlighted inability to book tee times as a weak point.
He also highlighted the need to improve the quality of the courses and to have one championship quality course to win the loyalty of wealthy golf tourists.
Tourism Minister Renee Webb said: ?I am very pleased with this new site. One of the best assets Bermuda has to promote tourism is golf.
?We have a detailed roadmap on how to attack this lucrative niche thanks to the golf report from Mr. Carr and we will focus on the goals that have been set.?
Sports programme manager for the Department of Tourism Cleon Scotland said: ?Our new golf website is very attractive, content-rich and easy to negotiate.
?The response thus far has been overwhelming. Our golf project will benefit greatly from this project.?
