Dance legend should be too agile for self-defence instructor

Neville Darrell is a home security consultant, taxi operator and a self-defence instructor. He graduated from Berkeley Institute and he was a former Police officer and was involved in forming the narcotics squad. He was also one of the former members in the early 60s. Mr. Darrell now operates Darrell Security services.

Having been the former captain of the Bermuda National Cricket Team, Mr. Darrell also contributed to sports on the Island.

Mr. Darrell is married and has three children. He last ran for the Progressive Labour Party in 1980.

Louise Jackson is best known for founding the Jackson School of Performing Arts. The dance school will be celebrating its 50-year anniversary next year. Mrs. Jackson is also the founder and director of the National Dance Theatre of Bermuda.

She graduated from Howard University with a major in health and physical education and continued with postgraduate work at Columbia University. She has also studied dance in both the United States and England. Mrs. Jackson has done research on Bermuda Gombeys and written a book.

She received an MBE from the Queen for her contribution to the arts in Bermuda and the work and research she did with gombeys. She is married to Albert Jackson who was the past president of the senate for 13 years. She has two daughters.

This is the first time Mrs. Jackson has run for the United Bermuda Party.
