PR contract under review, says Scott
Government's contract with its communications consultant is "under review", but that should not be taken out of context, says Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott.
Mr. Scott, asked to clarify comments made to the broadcast media yesterday about the $150,000 annual contract, said that the consultant, Tony Hodgkinson, had been doing a good job.
"I wouldn't put too high a point on it (the report)," Mr. Scott said.
"I was asked whether he was going to continue and I pointed out it was under review and it was for the premier to make that judgement. Everything in communications is under review."
Mr. Hodgkinson, he said, had been "extremely helpful to myself and the premier has benefited from his advice."
The review, in fact, could very well result in increasing his responsibilities, added the Minister.
Government has been conducting a wholesale review of the Government Information Services department in an effort to improve its communications.
And while the Government has been criticised for not effectively communicating with the public, the Opposition United Bermuda Party protested when the consultant's costs were included in this year's budget.
