Edward Smith: No foul play

Foul play has been ruled out in the death of Pembroke man Edward Smith who was found floating in the canal on Parsons Road on Wednesday morning.

His brother had said he believed Mr. Smith had been beaten. However a Police spokesman said yesterday there were no suspicious circumstances.

He said: ?As a result of a post-mortem carried out today by a pathologist, Police have ruled out foul play in the death of 53-year-old Edward Smith.

?However a cause of death is still undetermined pending a toxicology report.?

The dead man, who is survived by two children, worked as a car washer and had lived at the Emergency Housing Complex for several years.
