Glencoe conversion approved

Development Applications Board approved an application to convert the tourist property to residential use.

The Board reserved the right to approve final details for the conversion of the 41-room hotel into 14 "residential units''.

In an advisory note, the Board told Management Resources Bermuda Ltd. that it would pay particular attention to the number of residential apartments proposed at the final application stage.

"Board members are concerned that a high quality residential environment should be created with adequate private and communal amenity areas and car parking provision,'' it said.

In early January, 43 Glencoe staff were told they would be made redundant when the sale goes through.

Sources have told The Royal Gazette that the sale was contingent on the purchasers winning DAB approval for the conversion.
