ERROR RG P4 28.4.1999 A story in Monday's newspaper incorrectly reported that it will take eight weeks for the construction of a new office building for Gibbons Deposit Company. It will take eight weeks for the company's plans to be approved.

The Rosemont Guest Apartments took top honours at a prize giving-ceremony this weekend.

Tourism Minister David Allen presented the Cedar Tree Award for Hotelier of the Year to Barbara and Cyril Cooper of Rosemont at the Hospitality Professionals Association's tenth annual banquet at the Fourways Inn on Saturday.

Also commended was chef Fred Ming of the Bermuda College who received the fourth annual Hospitality Person of the Year Award.

And Herbie Knight of Willowbank won the second annual overall Bermuda Sunshine Award.

A spokesman said Mr. Knight, who received several nominations last year, was selected from four quarterly winners for his overwhelming hospitality.

MEN FOUND DEAD OBT Men found dead The bodies of two men were recovered by Police on Saturday morning, although neither of the two incidents, which are not connected, are being treated as suspicious.

At about 8 a.m., following several reports from members of the public, Police discovered the body of an unconscious man slumped over the steering wheel of a van on Middle Road, Warwick.

An ambulance was called to the scene and took the man to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

And just half an hour later, following a second anonymous tip-off, officers were called to a derelict building on Till's Hill, Pembroke where they discovered the partially decomposed body of a man. A pathologist was called to the scene and pronounced the cause of death as "non-suspicious''.

ROAD TO BE RE-OPENED GVT Road to be re-opened Works and Engineering Minister Alex Scott will officially open the eastern section of Water Street, St. George's next week.

The work included the placement of overhead utility wires underground and upgrading and installation of water and sewage lines, the erection of period street lighting and replacing tarmac with special pavement stones.

The Corporation of St. George's, the St. George's Foundation and the Ministry of Works funded the project.

Improvements to the town are already receiving praise from local residents, according to chairman of the St. George's Foundation Louis Mowbray.

"These changes are not just about cosmetics. They're about bringing us closer to the history of St. George's -- a town of major historical significance within the western hemisphere. These improvements truly enhance the period character of St. George's'' said Mr. Mowbray.

The opening will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday.

GIBBONS PLAN APPROVED PLN Gibbons plan approved Another major construction project is planned for the middle of Hamilton.

Gibbons Deposit Company is hoping to expand its offices into a five storey building to be erected next door.

Plans for the work would see an old storage building at the back of Phillips House on Reid Street, demolished. The proposed five-storey building would be constructed in its stead.

The Development applications Board (DAB) has granted in principle approval for the project but final approval and a building permit are still needed.

Head architect Jim Kaulbach said it will take eight weeks to erect the structure but would not be drawn on a cost.

SAILING BOAT CAPSIZED SLG Sailing boat capsizes Four sailors got a soaking when their rental boat capsized in Mangrove Bay, Sandys, yesterday afternoon.

The crew of a nearby vessel was able to rescue the four stranded seamen and together they righted the small sailing dinghy shortly before 1 p.m.

An ambulance was called after one of the crew members then developed symptoms of hypothermia back on dry land, although he quickly recovered and did not require medical treatment.
