Seniors have a ball at tea

Michael Weeks

Michael Weeks (pictured), the newly-named Minister of Community Development, was at his genial best last week when he and his Pembroke East Central Constituency executive hosted a Seniors Tea at the Victor Scott Primary School AuditoriumThe event, from start to finish, proved to be a resounding success, as seniors poured in from every corner of the island. They were greeted by the sounds of DJ Dewitt Thomas, and further entertained by renditions of young violinist and schoolboy Leslie Tucker, Jr and the melodious singing of the Victor Scott School Choir, under the direction of the music teacher Leroy Francis. In addition, soloist Elton Richardson sang to the delight of the seniors, while his brother Denny Richardson gave them food for thought with his poetry recitations. And the sing-along he conducted to the accompaniment of his age old ukulele. At the event’s end, the liberal serving of delicious delicacies and the awarding of door prizes, Mr Weeks and his executive team, under chairman Vernon Wears, Jr, were literally told ‘there must be an encore’ sooner than later.
