becoming Bermuda's first brew pub.

The Hunt Club Tavern on South Road has been given planning permission by the Development Applications Board (DAB) for interior alterations necessary for its brewery operations.

However the board added in its announcement that planning permission was limited to on-site consumption of the brewery operation's products.

Sale of the products for off-site consumption would require the consent of the board, it added.

North Rock Brewing Supplies operator and home brewer David Littlejohn purchased the restaurant from original owner Richard Butz on July 24.

He was not available for comment yesterday but he told The Royal Gazette in an earlier interview that he wanted to make some small interior decoration changes and revamp the menu slightly.

However his main objective was to put a brew pub -- a restaurant with a bar that produced its own beer -- on the site and provide several different types of beer for on-site consumption without any distribution.

The DAB refused an application by a Warwick golf club to build a cycle park, access turn-around and drop off area.

Riddell's Bay Golf and Country Club applied on May 23 for permission to construct the facilities but was turned down because insufficient information was submitted to enable a proper assessment of the proposal.
