Constituency 34 Sandys South Central - Sarah Burrows
Cell: 537-2724
“A great girl with practical family values.”
Sarah Burrows has that rare quality, the hard wisdom of experience softened by a genuine love of people and a sense of humour.
Sarah is standing as a candidate to achieve practical change now. “I do not believe that any of us, who have worked hard all our lives, like where Bermuda is headed today. If we do nothing about it, I fear for our children’s future.”
In health care, Sarah is a professional. She was the administrator for Dr Shaw’s practice in Somerset and is now the Programme Manager for the Bermuda Diabetes Association. Sarah believes that Bermuda, with its small size, and highly successful economy, should lead the way in promoting positive health care for all of its citizens. “Our health care could be the envy of the world, with active screening from birth to identify potential problems, coupled with proactive health education and treatment.”
Married with two sons, Sarah knows that schools alone cannot provide education.
“We cannot expect our teachers, in little over 6 hours a day, to be totally responsible for our children. Education is a partnership which starts with discussions around the meal table at home and continues into the school.”
Where parenting is a problem, Sarah advocates courses for parents and defines a healthy society as a caring society, which allows us to grow. “Education is not a solution on its own; the solution is to identify the aptitude of each child and to help them realise their potential. Practical career identification and guidance contribute to a healthy society. Work experience is a part of the educational process.”
Sarah wants to see more police, for their own and our safety. She also wants a serious review of the drug issue. “In a country the size of Bermuda, with only limited points of entry, we can deal with the drug issue as we decide. Let us debate it seriously.”
Sarah does not claim to have ready answers for everything. Debate with her and she will listen, balance your views against her own, and aim for change.

A plan for Sandys South Central
* To serve the people with honesty and integrity.
* To make Bermuda the envy of the world in terms of health care, particularly for our seniors.
* To increase Police patrols throughout the community.
* To clear away abandoned cars on Scotts Hill Road and to clean up the roadsides of trash and debris.
