PwC’s Johnston and Wightman in new leadership positions
Arthur Wightman has been named leader of PwC in Bermuda, while Darren Johnston, who previously led PwC in Bermuda, has been appointed to the role of chief executive officer (CEO), PricewaterhouseCoopers Caribbean Region Ltd., the assurance, tax and advisory services company announced today.
Mr Wightman, who held the position of insurance leader at PwC Bermuda, will continue in that position.
In a press release announcing the moves, Mr Johnston is quoted saying: “We are pleased to have Arthur assume this leadership role.
The CEO added: “He’ll build on the trusted relationships we have with our clients, people, and the wider community in Bermuda.”
PwC has a network of firms in 157 countries and more than 195,000 people.
Mr Wightman, also quoted in the press release, said: “I’m proud of the distinctive leadership position PwC has in the Bermuda market. I look forward to building on that with all of our stakeholders. This role brings with it the great privilege of working alongside our exceptionally talented team of PwC professionals who have the right capabilities, foresight and industry knowledge necessary to tackle the issues and opportunities facing our clients.

“I also look forward to bringing to bear our skills, resources and time in order to make a lasting difference to the wider Bermuda community.” Mr Wightman will continue to serve as insurance leader in Bermuda and for the PwC firms operating in the Caribbean, as well as on the PwC’s network’s global insurance leadership team.
PwC stated that over the last decade in Bermuda, and before that in London: “Mr Wightman has worked with global public and private companies helping to create the value they are looking for, whether that be in the areas of assurance, strategy, corporate acquisitions and disposals, risk and regulatory management or improving performance.
“Mr Wightman is also passionate about fostering the long term success and prosperity of Bermuda and has worked on a number of levels to promote the island as a domicile of choice for the global capital markets.”
Mr Wightman is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda. He is featured in sector commentary in international press, participates in industry events and panels in Bermuda and globally.
