A man who allegedly assaulted three Police officers was denied bail in Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Chris M. Anderson, 27, of Warwick, was remanded in custody after Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves “accepted the Crown's submissions”.

Anderson was charged with intending to do grievous bodily harm to off-duty P.c. Maxwell Sean Maybury and using an offensive weapon on May 10 in Paget.

He was also charged with assaulting P.c. Carol Smith and P.c. Gerald Simons on the same day.

Driver hurt after hitting wall

A driver who hit a wall was taken to hospital early Friday morning after sustaining minor injuries. Police attended the collision at Serpentine Road at 3.30 a.m. on Friday morning.

It appeared that the man lost control of the car while travelling west on Serpentine Road and hit the wall.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police issue beach advisory

With Bermuda's "official" start of summer just around the corner, the Bermuda Police Service is asking locals and visitors to be careful with their belongings while at the beach.

The Police have received several reports of theft from people who had their belongings removed from the beach while they were swimming.

If possible, the Police Service is warning the public to avoid bringing valuable items to the beach, or, to store them in beach lockers where available.

Youths cause disturbance at club

Two youths who were thrown out of Blue Juice early Friday morning created a disturbance at the Front Street bar when they returned brandishing metal pipes.

Around 1:25 a.m. Police arrived at Blue Juice and spoke with the head of security.

He said that the youths were told to leave but had returned with the metal pipes in hand.

The young men left the scene before the Police arrived.

However, shortly after, Police arrested the suspects - a 20-year-old Pembroke man and a 16-year-old Pembroke man.

Both were taken to the Hamilton Police Station and detained.

Thief steals $50

A thief who broke into a Pembroke residence on Saturday afternoon got away with $50 in cash.

Police attended a reported breaking and entering at an Old Rectory Lane residence.

On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who said that sometime between 8 a.m. on Friday and 12.30 p.m. that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home.

Inquiries into this incident are underway.

DAB defers new units at Tom Moore's

The Development Applications Board (DAB) has deferred an in principal application to build six two-bedroom tourist units at Tom Moore's Tavern.

The DAB decision said: “The Board wishes to advice the applicant that the design details to be later submitted shall include a more varied layout, including staggered building heights, roofscape and elevations inspired by and sympathetic to the design of the main building (Tom Moore's Tavern).”

Tom Moore's owner Bruno Fiocca said he could not comment because he had not been contacted by the DAB and had not yet seen the recommendations.

The proposed buildings would have been erected on the four acres behind the Walsingham Lane, Hamilton Parish restaurant.

Thief escapes

A thief who attempted to rob a Warwick residence early on Sunday morning made a quick escape on foot after being confronted by the resident.

Police officers spoke with the complainant who said that sometime around midnight she found an unknown male in her home.

After confronting him he escaped on foot.

The suspect is described as a brown-skinned male, 5 foot 11 inches tall, of stocky build with short, curly hair, wearing grey track pants and a grey sweat top. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police find missing 12-year-old girl

Police have located 12-year-old Charhan Burns, who was missing since last Wednesday.

Miss Burns was last seen on Wednesday morning when she left her Pembroke residence for school. She was found on Sunday morning.
