Fairmont to launch new par-3 event

Bermuda will get a new national golf championship this April, a Par-Three tournament organised by the Fairmont Southampton.

The competition, which will be sanctioned by the Bermuda Golf Association and financially backed by HSBC, is expected to take place on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday April 11, and has been specifically placed to coincide with the weekend of the Masters in Augusta.

The brainchild of Fairmont director of golf Anthony Mocklow, the tournament, which will be played at the Fairmont's executive course, will be officially launched at a press conference tomorrow morning.

Also present will be Bacardi CEO Michael Brennan, whose company are understood to have thrown their weight behind the newest event on the Island's golfing calendar.
