found guilty of dangerous driving charges.

Cann -- who is serving an eight-year jail term for the manslaughter of his ten-month-old daughter Cannice White -- was involved in an accident more than four years ago which saw a German visitor return home seriously injured.

Cann, 42, had pleaded not guilty to causing actual bodily harm by driving a vehicle in a dangerous manner and being the driver of a vehicle which he drove in a dangerous manner.

But Magistrate Edward King said Cann was guilty of both offences and sentenced him to concurrent periods of imprisonment of three months for the first charge and one month for the second. He also disqualified him from driving all private cars for the next six months.

The court had heard that the accident on August 6, 1992 at the junction of Verdmont Road and Middle Road in Smith's Parish involved German exchange student Hubert Ordyniec.

Mr. Ordyniec received fractured ribs, a ruptured spleen and kidney and a fractured pelvis after being knocked off his cycle when he was struck by a car.

Prosecution witnesses testified seeing a Hyundai car being driven very fast along Verdmont Road at the time of the accident.

Cann -- who was driving a Hyundai car on the night of the accident -- told the court that he collided with something but thought it was the wall because he never saw a bike.
