The Bermuda Volleyball Association have suspended all training, indoor and beach programmes until April 12, due to the worldwide spread of Covid-19.Following the advice of the Government of Bermuda and public health experts regarding the virus, a number of the association’s events have been affected. The Spring League, which was scheduled to start on March 30 and run for eight weeks, will now tentatively begin on Monday, April 13 and run for six weeks. Another which could be affected is the Bermuda Open which is scheduled to take place from April 30 the May 2. However, with the government urging gatherings of more than 50 people to be postponed, if the recommendation remains in place by April 15, the Open will be cancelled for this year. The same will happen with the Corporate Volleyball tournament, scheduled for May 9, if the government recommendation is still in affect by April 25. “We will continue to monitor the appropriate public health and safety advice and encourage our members to take any and all reasonable precautions,” the association said in a statement. “It is our hope that play can be resumed as soon as it is deemed appropriate. We would like the thank our members for your patience and understanding. Until then, we hope you stay healthy.”
