Chamber to hold webinar on facing insolvency

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce is to show a webinar on “Facing Insolvency: Considerations for Owners and Directors”. Open to members and non members, the session will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, October 14 from 12pm to 1:30pm.Featured will be Mike Penrose, from KPMG in Bermuda and Rhys Williams from law firm Conyers. Kendaree Burgess, chief executive officer at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce said: “We are pleased to be able to present this session on insolvency, to support Bermuda businesses. “Although it is can be a challenging and sensitive topic, the reality is that many businesses have been severely impacted by Covid-19 and are seeking support and direction to enable them to make the best decisions for the businesses they manage.” In the webinar, Mr Penrose and Mr Williams will review the steps businesses should take to protect themselves in the insolvency process. They will discuss identifying insolvency signals, fiduciary duties and responsibilities in a potential insolvent situation, process options and the liquidation process. Those with financial and overall responsibilities for the financial health and welfare of businesses are encouraged to attend. Mr Penrose, senior manager at KPMG in Bermuda, said: “I look forward to co-presenting the upcoming webinar with Rhys Williams at Conyers, where we will focus on corporate insolvency issues for owners, directors and their organisations. “We anticipate that attendees will emerge with a basic level of knowledge that will allow them to move forward more confidently when their organisation is faced with financial difficulty.” Tickets are $25 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members and can be purchased in advance from the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.
