Motorcyclist, passenger hurt

A motorcyclist and his passenger were injured on Harbour Road in Warwick yesterday morning.Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said the bike was travelling west on Harbour Road at about 12.50 a.m. when the rider lost control after negotiating a sharp bend near Salt Kettle Road.

The motorcycle was extensively damaged.

The rider, a 26-year-old Smith?s man and his passenger, a 24-year-old Devonshire woman, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not life threatening

*A teenager was injured last Wednesday when a car smashed into his push bike. The 16 year old Paget youth was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for head injuries.

The collision took place on Ord Road near Paget Primary School when the car, driven by a 37-year-old Devonshire man, struck the teenager?s cycle.

The driver suffered minor injuries. The teenager suffered abrasions to his right leg and a cut on his head.

Police said the car was damaged on the front and right side while the bike was severely damaged.

In a separate incident, a Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The 50 year old lost control of his bike and hit a telephone pole shortly before 11 p.m. last Wednesday.
