Two men were taken to hospital on Monday after being attacked with baseball bats and machetes.

The Pembroke men and a friend, who was also attacked, told Police that they had been riding along Palmetto Road in Pembroke when they were approached by someone on a green bike, who tried to kick them off their vehicles.

A red car then rammed into the bike, knocking both men off the vehicle.

A Police spokesman said that several men then jumped out of the car and began beating the pair with baseball bats and machetes.

Both men sustained injuries and received treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

One man received a gash to the back of his head, a sprained ankle, and a small laceration on his arm.

The other man suffered a sprained leg, cuts and lacerations.

The men eventually fought off their attackers with their helmets.
