Coco Reef offers digital cable service

Seeing things more clearly will be true for visitors at the old Stonington Beach Hotel and for local residents who avail themselves of the latest offer by CableVision.

Coco Reef Hotel ? formerly the Stonington Beach Hotel ? is believed to be the first hotel on the Island to provide digital cable service to their guests. Bermuda CableVision announced that it installed the new technology at the 66-room South Shore property last week.

"The Coco Reef is the first hotel on the Island to be fully installed for digital cable service," said CableVision general manager Jeremy Elmas. "II have no doubt that their guests will be delighted with the enhanced entertainment options that digital brings, including 20 of our customers most-requested channels, an expanded range of multiplex movie tiers, more pay-per-view choices and the crystal-clear sound and picture quality that only digital can deliver."

Coco Reef operations director Robin Gilbert said: "We attract discerning business and leisure travellers from around the world so it is important that our facilities are truly world-class.

"... Digital cable television adds another important element to ensure our guests get the most from their stay in Bermuda."

The move was also welcomed by Tourism, Telecommunications and E-commerce Minister Renee Webb.

"This all adds to making Bermuda a great vacation choice for overseas visitors," she said.

CableVision also announced that it is offering analog cable customers free upgrades to digital, saving on the usual $100 cost of installation. Customers living in St. David's, St. George's, Pembroke or the north part of Hamilton Parish wishing to take advantage of this offer should contact CableVision customer service on 292- 5544 or visit one of the CableVision offices in Church Street or Laffan Street.
