Local teams move up the scoreboard
Bermuda?s teams finally took advantage of home course knowledge to post their best scores of the week on the third day of the 90-hole Goodwill Golf Championships yesterday, but it was clubs from overseas who continued to lead both the gross and net divisions.
Fairmont Southampton (net 60 at Port Royal), Ocean View (net 60 at Belmont Hills), Port Royal (net 58 at Belmont Hills) and the Bermuda Golf Association (gross 66 at Riddell?s Bay) all claimed daily prizes at their respective courses.
However, in the net division it was the Canadians from St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg who stretched their overnight lead by two after posting an impressive ten-under-par 60 at Tucker?s Point.
They now stand on 174 (37 under par) after 54 holes, two clear of Rhode Island ?A? who turned in a ten-under 60 at Belmont Hills yesterday and Bear Hill who carded 62 at Riddell?s Bay.
