Roy and James in Match Play final

Steven Roy and David James will contest the 36-hole final of the Fritz Reiter Memorial Pro Match Play Championships at Riddell's Bay today after emerging triumphant from yesterday's quarter- and semi-finals.

Roy saw off challenges from Brian Morris and Twilton Smith, while James defeated Chris Smith and medallist Paul Adams.

Twilton Smith had earlier upset top ranked and defending champion Darriek Douglas.

No scores were made available yesterday.

While today's final will be played over two rounds, Twilton Smith and Adams will play 18 holes to decide third and fourth place.

n Bermuda Golf Association (BGA) will hold their inaugural team championships at Riddell's Bay this Sunday.

The tournament, the first of its kind in Bermuda, will see four separate divisions – two for men and two for ladies, playing for both individual and team honours.

The men's teams will comprise of four players with the three best scores counting towards the team total. The ladies' teams will consist of three players with the two best scores counting towards the total.

Invitations have been sent out to hosts Riddell's Bay as well as Port Royal, Mid Ocean Club, Belmont Hills, Tucker's Point, Ocean View and Fairmont Southampton while the BGA will submit a team as will Bermuda Junior Golf Association.

The independent Par-5 Club have also been invited.

A spokesperson for the BGA said this week that a full turn-out from all clubs was expected for the inaugural event.

A shotgun start is planned for 12.30 p.m. with player registration required before tee-off.
