met his death.

This came during the third day of a Coroner's inquest into the death of Brian Sherlock more than three years ago.

Mr. Sherlock, 38, was found lying in a pool of blood in the Dundonald Street car park during the early hours of the morning on May 20, 1994.

He later died due to haemorrhaging in the brain caused by a fractured skull.

During questioning by lawyer Marc Telemaque yesterday, Det. Con. Calvin Smith said that by the end of October, 1994, Police might have been in possession of three versions of how Mr. Sherlock met his death.

And he admitted that all the stories were varied.

Yesterday, Police officers said one version was the result of a series of Police interviews with Michael Robinson during the month of October, 1994.

During the Police interviews, Mr. Robinson allegedly directed most of the blame towards his friends, Damon Smith and Paco Fubler.

On October 19, 1994, Mr. Robinson reconstructed the events of May 19, 1994 for Police, Det. Sgt. Andrew Boyce said.

Det. Sgt. Boyce said Mr. Robinson and officers drove to Elliott Street shortly after 7 a.m. to conduct a walkabout around the area of the assault. Also yesterday, during questioning from lawyer Juan Wolffe, Det. Con. Smith admitted that not one of the three had been charged since Police obtained statements from them.

And Det. Con Smith said that the inquest was the first "substantive'' thing done regarding the case since 1994.

On Thursday, the Coroner's jury heard that in a hand-written Police statement, Mr. Fubler laid the majority of the blame at his friend's feet.

He claimed Mr. Smith picked up a stick and broke it into three pieces, so each man had a length.

And he alledged that he told his friends not to pick on Mr. Sherlock when they spotted him lying in the car park.

He said he went along with his friends because he was scared.

"Everyone was just hitting him,'' he wrote in his statement.

Earlier this week, the Coroner's jury also heard another version about the night Mr. Sherlock died.

In a Police witness statement, Mr. Smith's cousin, Sean Smith, claimed that his relative spoke to him on the morning of May 20, 1994, about Mr. Sherlock's death.

Sean Smith told Police that his cousin said he got Mr. Fubler and Mr. Robinson to do in Mr. Sherlock "to keep his mouth shut''.

And he claimed that his cousin told him that he did not personally attack Mr.

Sherlock.

But on the witness stand this week, Sean Smith said his witness statement was untrue.

The five-man, four-woman jury was empanelled on Wednesday to determine how, when and where Mr. Sherlock met his death.

And if they find that he died as a result of murder or manslaughter, they must also point the finger at the responsible party or parties.

The inquest continues on Monday before Senior Coroner Will Francis.
