Bermudians vie for places
Several Bermudian sailors will be vying for places alongside the world's best match racer when the Bermuda National Match Race Championships are held at the end of the month.
The regatta will take place in Hamilton Harbour on September 29 and 30, providing local spectators with an advanced look at what is to come when the Colorcraft Gold Cup takes place from October 14-21.
Already qualified to compete in the local championships is Adam Barboza, the reigning champion, who will seek to defend his crown while flying the flag of the Etchells class.
Also through is Trevor Boyce and Nicky Lewin, of the J-24 and IOD classes respectively.
The championship will be sailed using the elegant IOD craft, as will the Gold Cup.
Others interested in securing a spot in the regatta are asked to contact Kevin Blee (295-2214 ext.105) at Royal Bermuda Yacht Club or send a request via e-mail to rbycsailibl.bm.
