convicted for the murder of James Cyrus Caines will appeal his conviction.

Teiko Furbert instructed his lawyer Archie Warner yesterday to begin proceedings in the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, Mark Pettingill who represented Sheldon Franks at the two and a half week trial, is believed to be considering appealing his client's sentence.

Mr. Pettingill did not return phone calls from The Royal Gazette yesterday.

Caines, 28, died after a bullet struck him in the face on July 6, 1996 at a home on 27 Curving Avenue.

Furbert and Franks were sentenced to life imprisonment by Chief Justice Austin Ward on Tuesday after a Supreme Court jury found the pair guilty of murder by majority verdicts.
