Reserve Police officer assaulted

An off-duty Reserve Police officer was assaulted yesterday after a minor cycle collision, according to a Police report.

A man ?twisted her (the officer?s) arm and pushed her in the chest,? Police said, after hitting her cycle from behind.

The officer?s injuries included a swollen right wrist in addition to bruising and abrasions.

The officer, who was driving her personal motorcycle at the time, had stopped at the traffic lights at the junction of Queen Street and Church Street.

When he struck the officer?s bike, the man started to use offensive language towards her.

Police described the suspect as ?a dark-skinned black male, approximately 17 to 18 years old, of slim build wearing a dark coloured helmet with a clear visor, dark blue jean shorts, a t-shirt and sneakers?.

Inquiries into the incident are being carried out.
