A St. George?s teenager is in a critical condition in an American hospital after suffering burns in a bike accident.

The16-year-old was riding on Spanish Point Road at 12.20 p.m. Saturday when he lost control near the Clarence Dale Road junction and the bike struck a palm tree and caught fire.

His 15-year-old passenger was thrown from the bike and was not injured but the rider suffered burns all over his body. Members of the public ran to his aid and he was then rushed to hospital. Early yesterday morning he was flown to an American hospital in a critical condition but Police were unable to say where he had gone.
