Parsons Lane crash riddle
Details remained sketchy yesterday about the circumstances that led to a young man sustaining serious injuries in Parsons Lane, Devonshire on Saturday morning.
A Police spokesman described the incident at around 8.10 a.m as ?what appears to be a serious single vehicle road traffic collision?. He said that details were unclear, but that a 24-year-old man from Pembroke was found by a member of the public unconscious, but breathing. He was near a motorcycle.
The victim was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. According to the spokesman, he was in the Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition yesterday afternoon.
No details were given as to the type of injuries sustained.
Police did not follow their usual policy of releasing the name of the injured man to the media. His condition, therefore, could not be ascertained as went to press.
An investigation into the incident was said to be ongoing, and Police officers remained at the scene yesterday afternoon with an area next to the road cordoned off.
The Police spokesman declined to comment when asked if there was reason to believe the incident was something more than a straightforward road smash.
Police have appealed for witnesses ? particularly two men on separate motorcycles who stopped and assisted the victim at the scene ? to call P.c. Eddie Smith at the Traffic Enforcement Unit on 299-4347.
The injured man was found on the same isolated stretch of road where 18-year-old RyanBurgess died on February 10 when his bike smashed into a tree.
