Suspect arrested after robbery

A man has been arrested after kicking another man off his bike, punching him and taking his wallet.

The middle-aged victim, from Devonshire, man, said he was riding a rental cycle west on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish when a man rode alongside him.

The suspect kicked the Devonshire man, causing him and the rental cycle to fall to the ground. The suspect then approached the victim and punched him in the face while he was on the ground.

The suspect removed a tan coloured leather wallet containing $40 and personal items before running off. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and subsequently released.

A short time later, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect, a 27-year-old St. George's man on Workmen's Lane in Hamilton parish.

He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station and detained. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 297 1122.
