Gang attacks put one man in hospital with a broken arm and left another robbed of his bike and wallet in a spate of violence in Somerset at the weekend.

The two incidents, which both involved groups of young men, took place within yards of each other and a little more than 24 hours apart, although Police last night declined to say if they were linked.

The first incident took place at a White Hill Lane, Sandys, home at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday.

The victim told Police he was alone in the property when he heard noises outside the front door and saw a group of men in the front yard.

?The men then started to damage the front door, causing the victim to flee through the back door,? a Police spokesman said.

?However, the group of men caught up with him, punching him about the body and hitting him with helmets and bats. After a short while, the victim managed to get away, collapsing in a neighbour?s yard. The victim was taken to KEMH for treatment of a suspected broken arm.?

In the second incident, which took place at about 4 a.m. yesterday, a 17-year-old Paget man had his bike, wallet, cellular phone and watch stolen.

The man told Police that he was at the dock with his girlfriend when a white truck and two motorcycles entered the area. The Paget youth was then approached by four men, one of whom grabbed him around the neck and demanded his wallet.

Under the threat of personal violence, the 17-year-old Paget man gave the men his wallet, containing personal items, an Audiovox cellular phone and a silver and gold stainless steel Casio wristwatch.

They also stole his auxiliary cycle ? a dark blue Honda Scoopy ? before making their getaway, Police said.

?The suspects are described as four dark skinned black men wearing baggy jeans and white t-shirts, believed to be between 18 and 21-years-old,? Police said.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
