Unlicensed pit bulls cost owner $400

A social inquiry report was ordered yesterday on a schoolboy who pleaded guilty to obstructing a Police officer and possessing an offensive weapon.

Seventeen-year-old Berkeley student Andre Christopher Shakir of Lily Park Lane, Sandys, was approached by Police on September 7.

The Police had been acting on a call about a man on a motorcycle with a bandana over part of his face, the court was told.

?You cannot search me, I?m a juvenile,? he said when Police told him they wanted to search him for drugs.

He also refused to get off his bike when asked, and denied carrying any weapons. But when eventually searched, the student was found to be carrying a machete in his pants. He told the Police that the weapon was for protection from ?guys in town?.

?You?re a young man, a schoolboy but somehow I get the impression you don?t care,? said Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner before imposing a $1,500 bail, a curfew and ordering a social inquiry report.
