A woman who attacked three Police officers after going on a drinking binge was fined $1,500 for the assault yesterday.

Jerrika Jacobs, 26, of Alexander Road, Devonshire had originally appeared in Magistrates Court two weeks ago, although sentencing was adjourned until yesterday for a social inquiry report to be completed.

During the initial hearing Jacobs had previously pleaded guilty to violently resisting arrest, unlawfully assaulting Police officers, using offensive language and being on a bike without headgear in the early hours of August 1.

The court heard how officers on mobile patrol stopped Jacobs because she was riding pillion without a helmet on Curving Avenue.

She was warned to stop using offensive language and was arrested when she continued cursing.

When being placed in handcuffs she attacked the officers and violently bit one officer's arm. Another officer tried to intervene and was bitten on his right hand, the bite piercing his skin. After officers had managed to get her into a patrol vehicle, she spat in the face of a third officer.

Jacobs said the reason for her behaviour was that she had been drinking. She said could remember little of the incident apart from the handcuffs were put on her too tight.

Yesterday, Mr. Greaves fined Jacobs $250 on each of the six counts or 40 days "west" (Westgate).

Jacobs replied: "No - send me east - I might come out of there pregnant."
