Police said the incident happened at Shelly Bay beach last Saturday morning.

The child, who was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated, stepped on live coals that had been partially covered.

The public is asked to make sure coals are well covered sand or otherwise properly disposed of, Police said.

CAR DRIVER HURT AC Car driver hurt A 43-year-old male car driver and his passenger suffered facial injuries after a collision with a Southampton Princess shuttle bus.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the accident took place at 1.45 p.m.
