to get quashed a Court of Appeals ruling that freed two of four men convicted of drug smuggling.

Attorney General Mr. Walter Maddocks yesterday confirmed that Senior Crown Counsel Mr. Barrie Meade would be presenting arguments against lawyers Mr.

Delroy Duncan and Mr. John Perry QC.

Ted Ming, Colin Smith, Larry Ebbin and Dexter Dillas were each sentenced to 20 years in prison after a Supreme Court jury found them guilty last May of importing three kilos of cocaine with Americans Antonio Miranda and Angela Trepasso between May 11 and 20, 1990 and conspiring to import the drug between October 1, 1988 and May 20, 1990.

The Appeals Court freed Ming and Smith in March, but a retrial was ordered for Ebbin and Dillas.

"Mr. Meade has gone for the hearing of a petition for leave to appeal,'' said Mr. Maddocks. "It should last about half an hour. There will be opposition made by Mr. Perry and Mr. Duncan on behalf of their defendants and then we will have to wait to hear.

"If we do get leave to appeal we'll have to go back and actually argue the appeal before the judicial committee.'' Mr. Maddocks said the result would not be made known for at least one month.

Mr. Perry QC is representing Ming, while Mr. Duncan is representing Smith.
