Somerset Trojans open the defence of their Friendship Trophy title against Southampton Rangers on December 14, while Somerset Eagles, the First Division Shield champions, will be involved in a preliminary round tie with Paget.

No dates for the preliminary round matches have been set as both Somerset Eagles and Paget Lions will play in FA Cup preliminary round matches next Tuesday.

BAA Wanderers will play Boulevard in the other Shield match while Friendship preliminary ties have Devonshire Cougars meeting neighbours North Village and PHC Zebras taking on Hamilton Parish, last season’s losing Friendship finalists.

In other quarter-final matches on December 14, Robin Hood will meet Flanagan’s Onions, Dandy Town take on St George’s Colts and the winners of Cougars and North Village will play the winners of PHC and Hamilton Parish.

Last year the two Somerset teams enjoyed Friendship Trophy and Shield success in the finals, with the Trojans comfortably beating Parish 4-1 in the Friendship Trophy and Eagles getting by Devonshire Colts 2-0 to win the Shield.

Meanwhile, the Player Development Festive Tournament will be played during the month of December, with eleven teams battling for places in the New’s Year’s Day final.

The teams will compete in four groups initially, with PHC and Devonshire Cougars in group A; BAA, Hamilton Parish and Dandy Town in group B; Devonshire Colts, Southampton Rangers and St George’s in group C and Young Men’s Social Club, Somerset Trojans and North Village in group D.

The quarter-finals, involving the top two teams in each group, will be played on December 22 and the semi-finals on December 28.

Shield preliminary matches: Somerset Eagles v Paget; BAA v Boulevard. Dates to be confirmed.

Friendship preliminary matches: Devonshire Cougars v North Village; PHC v Hamilton Parish

Friendship quarter-finals, December 14: Robin Hood v Flanagan’s Onions; Somerset Trojans v Southampton Rangers; Devonshire Cougars or North Village v PHC or Hamilton Parish; Dandy Town v St George’s.

Semi-finals matches for both competitions will be played on December 27 and 28.
