Granville V. Bennett, of Devon Springs Road, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to driving on the road near his home while impaired.

Police prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Police were on patrol in the area around 10.30 p.m. on October 8 when they saw Bennett and signalled for him to stop.

Bennett went over a kerb and came to a stop on a field. He had to lean on the car for support and he smelled of alcohol.

Subsequent tests showed that he had 288 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

DRUGS HIDDEN IN UNDERWEAR CTS Drugs pipe hidden in underwear Possessing a small amount of heroin and hiding a pipe in his underwear landed a man in court.

Ernest Johnston, 35, of Manchester Road, Sandys, pleaded guilty to possessing .013 grams of 29 percent-pure heroin powder and a pipe for the misuse of drugs.

Prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Police had Johnston in custody at the Somerset Police Station for another matter on October 9.

When they started to search him they found a folded $1 bill in his pocket. The heroin powder was inside the bill.

And, Sgt. Dale said, when Johnston took off his underwear the pipe fell out.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Johnston $150 for possession of the pipe and $250 for possession of the heroin.

TEENS RODE CYCLE WHILE IMPAIRED CTS Teen rode cycle while impaired Less than two months after turning 18, a Devonshire teenager appeared in court for riding along Front Street while impaired.

James C. Holder, of Turks Head Lane, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired on November 25.

Prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Police were on patrol on Front Street at about 2 a.m. when they saw Holder -- who was riding a cycle -- narrowly miss hitting a parked car.

Sgt. Dale said Holder then proceeded to travel counter-clockwise around the Birdcage and almost collide with another car.

Holder then went through a red traffic light on Front Street and narrowly missed two pedestrians and a third car.

Police stopped him by Parliament Street where they noticed he smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred, and his eyes were glassy.

Sgt. Dale said Holder had 156 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Holder was ordered to pay a $300 fine and banned from driving all motor vehicles for a year.

GIRL STOLE FROM HAMILTON STORE CTS Girl stole from Hamilton store A 17-year-old girl was fined $50 last week for stealing from the Phoenix Store.

Gina Minugh, of Salt House Lane, Smith's Parish, pleaded guilty to stealing a $3.50 box of Noxema and a $12.85 box of Christmas cards on November 2.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said store detectives saw Minugh taking the items and putting them into her bag.

Minugh, who is in her last year of high school, was stopped on Reid Street after she left the store without paying.

Minugh told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis: "I'm very sorry. I've never done anything like this before and I know I won't do anything like this again.''
