The teenager from Keith Hall Estate, Warwick, also suffered some loose teeth, Police said.

Monday's incident occurred at lunchtime as the student was riding a motor cycle down Berkeley Road, towards the junction with St. John's Road in Pembroke.

Police spokeswoman Insp. Roseanda Jones described the attack as "gruesome''.

She said it was not known from where the rock was thrown.
