Delray Rawlins has been rewarded for another productive season with both bat and ball after having his stint at Sussex County Cricket Club extended.The club announced that the Bermuda all-rounder is among a trio of players, including George Garton and Tom Haines, who have signed contract extensions of unspecified length.“It’s nice to sign for a couple more years, and they are some big years ahead for me,” Rawlins told The Royal Gazette last night.“I’ll be working hard to make sure that they are successful as well.”The 23-year-old scored 460 runs and claimed 11 wickets across both formats during the 2020 season, which was shortened because of the Covid-19 pandemic.He made a season-high first-class score of 65 against Surrey, claimed career-best Twenty20 figures of three for 21 and hit an unbeaten 62 against Kent Spitfires in the Vitality Blast.“We’re delighted that George, Tom and Delray have extended their stays with Sussex,” Keith Greenfield, the Sussex performance director, said.“George has had a fantastic summer and is showing the match-winning capabilities we all know he has.“Tom and Delray again have both shown the talent and potential they have, and were given more support and match time to add the consistency to make regular match-winning contributions for the club.”Rawlins joined the Sussex Cricket Academy in 2015 and made his debut in the Second XI Championship the same year.He signed a one-year professional contract with the club in 2016 and made his first-class debut against Kent in the County Championship the next season.
