Jeffrey P. Trott of Farm Lane, also denied unlawfully assaulting a man on May 25 causing him bodily harm, and wilfully and unlawfully damaging a pair of prescription glasses belonging to him.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis bailed Trott in the sum of $1,500 on condition that he have no contact whatsoever with the complainant. He will be tried on October 11.

US VISITOR FINED FOR POSSESSING DRUGS CTS US visitor fined for possessing drugs A 31-year-old American visitor was fined $200 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after he admitted possessing 2.06 grams of cannabis.

James Leroy Hunter pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred on May 26.

Police Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant, said that Hunter arrived at the Civil Air Terminal around 3 p.m.

He cleared Immigration but a Customs search revealed plant material in a black film canister which was among the toiletries in his suitcase.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Hunter $200.

DRIVER DISQUALIFIED FOR DRUNK DRIVING CTS Driver disqualified for drunk driving A Pembroke man who pleaded guilty to riding while impaired, was fined $350 and taken off the road for 12 months.

George Wesley Phipps, 56, of First Avenue, admitted the offence which occurred on April 21.

Police Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant, said a Police patrol saw Phipps riding past the junction of the Lane and Harbour Road in Paget.

He was riding in an easterly direction when he increased speed and passed a car. Police followed him to Pomander Road where they stopped him to find out why he passed the car in such an unsafe manner.

Phipps appeared unsteady and his speech was slurred. A breath test at the Hamilton Police Station revealed that he had 97 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Phipps $350 and took him off the road for 12 months.

ACCUSED ADMITS BEATING AND ROBBING CTS Accused admits beating and robbing A 27-year-old who beat and robbed a man of $30 on Angle Street entered a guilty plea when he appeared in Supreme Court yesterday.

John Sinclair Anderson of Orchard Grove, Pembroke admitted committing robbery with personal violence on September 6. Pending the outcome of a social inquiry report, he will be sentenced at arraignments on July 3.

His accomplice Stephen Caisey has already pleaded guilty to the same offence.

Puisne Judge the Hon. Mrs. Justice Wade granted a request by defence lawyer Mr. Mark Pettingill for a social inquiry report. Mr. Brian Calhoun is representing the Crown.

Also in July, Anderson will face a string of charges for damaging a number of cars and police vehicles when he allegedly went on a joy riding spree last December.

They include two of stealing, two of breaking and entering, eight of wilful damage and one of escaping custody after he climbed out of a window at Prospect Police Station. Anderson has already pleaded not guilty to all 13 counts.

In a Magistrates' Court appearance in April, he admitted three counts of dangerous driving and driving an uninsured and unlicensed red Mazda relating to the same incident on December 20. But at the last moment he ask to reverse his dangerous driving plea to not guilty. Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis set a trial date for August.

TRAFFIC OFFENCES LEAD TO LARGE FINE CTS Traffic offences lead to large fine An 18-year-old Pembroke man was fined $2,560 in Magistrates' Court after he pleaded guilty to a slew of traffic offences going back to December.

Tamiko Wainwright, of Union Street, admitted that he did not have a proper driver's licence when Police stopped him near the junction of Dundonald and Washington streets on December 10, 1994.

On February 16, 1995 on Church Street, he failed to obey a stop sign and used a fraudulent sticker to hide the fact that his cycle was unlicensed and had no third party insurance.

At the time he also did not have a valid driver's licence. On March 10, 1995, only three days after he received a 12 month disqualification for impaired driving, Wainwright was caught riding a motorcycle on Front Street.

The motorcycle had no third party insurance, or back light and the cycle was also uninsured.

Later that month on March 31, 1995, Wainwright was caught speeding at 65 kph riding while disqualified and failing to give his name and address to Police.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Wainwright $150 for each occasion that he had no driver's licence, $75 for disobeying the stop sign, $75 for not having a proper back light and $300 for each offence of riding a motorcycle with no third party insurance.

He was also fined $150 each for each unlicensed vehicle offence, $260 for speeding at 65 kph, $300 and $350 respectively for riding while disqualified twice and $150 for failing to give his name and address to Police.
