Riders urged to lock bikes

Police are reminding the riders and owners of auxiliary and motorcycles to securely lock their vehicles when leaving them unattended, even for short periods of time.

There are three types of cycles which are more prone to be taken without their owners' consent: the Honda Scoopy, the Yamaha V50 and the Yamaha V80.

Police are asking that all cycle riders and owners, particularly those who own the above cycle models, lock their bikes with the handlebar lock and a supplementary lock.

In addition to locking your cycle, a 'Datatag' device can be a useful deterrent to cycle theft — and can aid in identifying your cycle if it is stolen and later recovered by Police.
