Twenty-eight-year-old Shawn Albouy was charged with six separate counts when Police stopped him at Spurling Hill, Paget, on Feb. 28.

Albouy, of Khyber Pass, Warwick, was stopped after Police clocked him driving at 65 kph. They then discovered his vehicle was uninsured and his licence had expired.

Albouy pleaded guilty to one charge of driving whilst disqualified.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Albouy a total of $2,150 and banned him from driving all vehicles for 12 months, to run concurrently with the two-year ban he is already serving for an earlier speeding offence.

ALCOHOL AND SPEED DON'T MIX CTS Alcohol and speed don't mix A 29-year-old Paget man accused of driving with two-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Police officers observed Terrence Hunt, of Cataract Hill, on Feb. 12 driving unsteady and at a speed of 60 kph while travelling east on Crow Lane.

When stopped by officers, they noticed alcohol on Hunt's breath. He was cautioned and taken to Hamilton Police Station to take a breath test.

His blood alcohol level was 209 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood, 129 milligrams over the legal limit.

Hunt received a fine of $230 for speeding and an additional fine of $450 with a 12-month driving ban for driving whilst impaired.

Meanwhile a second man charged with driving at 80 kph while impaired appeared before the Magistrate.

Kevin Buckley, of Poinciana Road, Devonshire, pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving whilst impaired. But he admitted failing to provide an adequate breath sample and driving at 45 kilometres per hour over the legal limit.

Police stopped the 34-year-old computer programmer after observing him travelling east along Crow Lane on a motorcycle on February 12.

Officers escorted him to Hamilton Police Station where he provided one breath sample reading of 212 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. However, he was unable to provide a second sample.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined Buckley $450 for refusing to give an adequate breath sample and $450 for speeding. Buckley also received a 12-month ban from driving all motor vehicles and two years from driving motorcycles.
