Steven Stovell, 33, of South Shore Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving an auxiliary cycle while impaired and without a valid driver's license.

The court heard that Police officers saw Stovell riding the cycle with a passenger on the back along Crow Lane on August 30.

He was driving in an erratic manner and narrowly missed a wall when he turned onto Lane Hill.

Later, an analysis of his breath showed he had 209 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Police also discovered that he did not have a driver's license.

Mr. Francis fined him $150 for driving without a license and $400 for driving while impaired. He also disqualified him from all vehicles for 12 months.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, a retired 70-year-old man was fined $400 yesterday after he pleaded guilty to impaired driving.

Millard Franks, of Brighton Hill Road, Devonshire, was also disqualified from driving all vehicles for 12 months after an incident on Court Street on August 30.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said officers attended a road traffic accident on Court Street near the Swinging Doors nightclub where they found several motorcycles lying in the road and Franks sitting in the driver's seat of a nearby Datsun station wagon.

Franks said he had been trying to move the car when he knocked over the bikes.

Franks told them he had drunk "a few beers'' and provided a sample of his breath for analysis. The lowest reading was 213 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

MAN CAUGHT WITH CANNABIS CTS Man caught with cannabis A US man's trip to Bermuda turned into "a flop'' after he was caught at the airport with over 11 grams of cannabis and drug equipment.

New Yorker Michael Fesmire, 23, pleaded guilty to importation of cannabis and possession of drug equipment and was fined a total of $1,300.

The court heard how Customs officers discovered a bag containing plant material and three pipes when they searched his baggage after he arrived on September 15.

The evidence was analysed and the plant material was discovered to be 11.4 grams of cannabis while the pipes had traces of cannabis residue on them.

Sgt. Donald Grant told the court the drugs had an estimated street value of $570.

Fesmire apologised to Government and to Senior Magistrate Will Francis and admitted he had been wrong to leave the US with the drugs in his possession.

Mr. Francis fined him $1,200 for importation and $100 for possession of drug equipment.

WOMAN FINED FOR DAMAGING CAR CTS Woman fined for damaging car An unemployed 22-year-old mother was yesterday fined $250 for doing almost $400 worth of damage to a man's car.

Cureka Caines, of Union Street, Pembroke pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on September 1 at Bernard Park.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant told the court the complainant had gone to the field to play soccer and left his girlfriend sitting in his Volkswagon Jetta.

He said Caines went over to the car and spoke to the woman. She then picked up a rock and scratched the side of the car causing $390 worth of damage.

Caines told the court she was frustrated over recent events in her life and had not gone to the field to damage the car, but said the incident "just happened''.

She added that she was sorry for doing the damage and would pay for any damages.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis said he would leave it up to the complainant to get the money for the damages from her and fined her $250.
