A Warwick man pleaded guilty to stealing seven bikes and importing drugs yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Satonjee Devent Joell, 26, was remanded in custody and ordered to undergo a social inquiry report before he is sentenced next month after defence lawyer Venous Telford convinced Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves to look into Joell's circumstances before sentencing him.

Joell admitted stealing the bikes - worth more than $10,000 - and a license plate between September 1 and November 16 of this year but offered no explanation for his actions.

Mr. Greaves hesitated before ordering the report and noted Joell did not appear to want to talk.

Joell also pleaded guilty to importing heroin and cocaine onto the Island on February 9 but denied the last two charges of possessing the drugs with intent to supply.

Mr. Greaves adjourned his sentencing, allowing Crown counsel Charmaine Smith time to confer with the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine the Crown's next course of action.
