Hospitals honour auxiliary staff
This year a nursing orderly and nursing assistant were honoured as Auxiliary staff of the Year by the Bermuda Hospitals Board.
Timothy Durham is a nursing orderly at Agape House and Helen Tyrrell is a nursing assistant on the Curtis Ward.
Every year managers nominate outstanding employees.
The nominees are then interviewed by a multidisciplinary committee.
The winners exemplify the nursing profession and provide the hands on and ?kind-hearted care that brings a human touch to medicine? the BHB said.
The other employees nominated were Linda Philpott, Sheila Durham and Eugenie DeShields.
The BHB described this year?s selection process as difficult.
Mr. Durham and Ms Tyrrell were chosen because the board was impressed with their respectful attitudes to both patients and co-workers.
Both winners also demonstrated their willingness to go the extra mile throughout the year.
