Play celebrates Heritage Month

Hasana Productions is celebrating Heritage Month with the play ?Just Say It?. Written, produced and directed by Patrice Frith Hayward, it will be performed at City Hall theatre from May 26-29 inclusive.

Set in the early summer of this year, the plot involves a married couple who allow their unmarried friends and neighbours to live with them while renovations are being carried out on their house. They all quickly learn that making assumptions results in things being taken for granted, and the creation of major problems in friendships and relationships. They are constantly surrounded by friends and relatives, and everyone gets a lot off their chests by the time the renovations are completed.

The cast includes popular comedian Bootsie, Lauren Perinchief, Tyrone Smith, Roddy Nesbitt, Tina Duke, Nikita Robinson, Ryan Bean and Gina Davis.

Hansana Productions was formed in 1990 by Ms Hayward under the name ?Creative Perceptions?. It has produced five plays: ?Contrast?, ?Collage?, ?That Was Then?, ?Island Sistahs?, and now ?Just Say It?.

?Collage? was performed at The National Black Theater Festival in Winston Salem, North Carolina and earned rave reviews. In 2002 ?That Was Then? won first place for Drama in the Department of Community Affairs? inaugural Literary Award competition.

Curtain times for ?Just Say It? are: May 26-29 at 8 p.m. sharp. There will also be a matinee performance on May 29 at 4 p.m. sharp.

Due to the mature theme of the production, children under 16, including babies, will not be admitted under any circumstances. This is because, on previous occasions, women have ignored the warning and turned up with babies, resulting in audience disturbance and general unpleasantness. Anyone turning up with a ticket and attempting to flout this rule will not be given a refund.

Patron tickets ($45) for the opening night performance will also include a cocktail reception in City Hall foyer following the show. General admission is $25. Tickets are sold at True Reflections, Cessi?s Boutique in Somerset, and City Hall box office from Monday-Saturday, 12 noon to 2.30 p.m. For further information see the Bermuda Calendar.
